At Maika Komodo Tour & Diving, we offer many options for scuba diving in Komodo. we make it easy for everyone to experience the underwater world safely and confidently. Whether you’ve never tried scuba before or you’re ready to earn your first certification, we offer both Discover Scuba (Try Dive) and Open Water Courses through our daily fun diving trips and 3-day/4-day liveaboards. Both options are fun, rewarding, and tailored to your comfort level — but the best choice depends on what you’re hoping to get from your diving experience. What Is a Discover Scuba Dive (Try Dive)?A Discover Scuba Dive, also called a Try Dive, is the easiest and most beginner-friendly way to experience scuba diving. It’s designed for people who have never been diving before and want to safely explore the ocean without committing to a full course.
During this experience, you’ll learn the basics of scuba equipment, hand signals, and breathing techniques from one of our certified instructors. After a short lesson and shallow water practice, you’ll head out for two guided dives, usually between 5–12 meters deep. You’ll stay close to your instructor the entire time, exploring calm, coral-rich dive sites like Siaba Besar, Tatawa Besar, or Mauan (Mawan) — all perfect for beginners. What Is the Open Water Course?If you’re ready to take your underwater adventures to the next level, the Open Water Course is the world’s most recognized scuba certification. Once completed, you’ll be a certified diver for life — able to dive independently with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet) anywhere in the world.
At Maika Komodo Tour & Diving, we offer the Open Water Course through both PADI and SSI, two of the most respected diving organizations globally. The course usually takes three to four days to complete and can be done on one of our 3D2N or 4D3N liveaboard trips, or through daily diving sessions in Labuan Bajo.
