If you’re looking for an incredible diving experience, Komodo National Park is a dream destination. I recently joined Maika Komodo Tour & Diving for two fantastic day trips, each featuring three dives at some of the park’s best sites. From the stunning reefs to the abundant marine life, it was an adventure I’ll never forget. Not to mention, the guides were outstanding, and the food onboard was beyond my expectations.
Day 1: Sebayur Kecil, Manta Point, and Tatawa Besar
Our first day started bright and early as we set off from Labuan Bajo. The excitement was palpable, and after a quick safety briefing from our dive guide, Paul, we geared up for our first dive at Sebayur Kecil. The visibility was stunning, and the diversity of coral and fish blew me away. The highlight here was spotting several reef sharks cruising in the distance.
Next up, we headed to Manta Point, one of Komodo’s most famous dive sites. As soon as we entered the water, the graceful dance of manta rays began. Swimming alongside these gentle giants was an absolute dream come true! The dive felt magical, and Paul’s knowledge about their behavior added to the experience.
Our final dive of the day was at Tatawa Besar, where the current carried us along a drift dive. The reef was teeming with life—schools of snapper, jacks, and even a few turtles glided through the vibrant corals. By the time we surfaced, I was completely in awe of Komodo’s underwater world.
Back on the boat, we were treated to a delicious meal prepared by Ryan, our chef. The flavors were authentic and refreshing, the perfect way to refuel between dives.

Day 2: Siaba Besar, Mawan, and Batu Bolong
After the excitement of the first day, I couldn’t wait to see what the second day would bring. Our first stop was Siaba Besar, a haven for turtles. Sure enough, we encountered countless sea turtles leisurely grazing on seagrass. The calm waters and vibrant coral garden made it a peaceful dive, perfect for spotting macro life as well.
Our second dive at Mawan was equally mesmerizing. The site is known for its coral bommies, where we spotted a variety of critters, from nudibranchs to octopuses. We even got another encounter with manta rays, gracefully soaring through the blue.
The grand finale was Batu Bolong, one of the park’s most renowned dive sites. The sheer walls of coral were bursting with color and life. Schools of fish enveloped us as we descended, and I felt like I was floating in an aquarium. This dive was challenging due to the currents, but Paul’s guidance made it safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Once again, the food between dives was amazing. Ryan’s meals were freshly prepared and packed with flavor—a true culinary treat after a day of diving.
