Tour guide Interview #4Komodo Tour Guide Interview: Interviewer: Thank you for joining me again. I try to interview different Komodo tours guides and Komodo Tour agency. So thank you for your time. So you told me about some of your favorite places, can you now tell me of leaser known places that you enjoy? Guide: Sure. As I said, I enjoying Sailing Komodo National Park anytime of the year and I enjoy all the great locations, but yes there are a few that may not be as popular. The most popular places that the Komodo Boat tours go to are places like Komodo Island, Rinca Island, Pink Peach, Manta point, and of course Padar Island. I would say those other places that may not get as many tourists are places Long Beach, Gili Lawa, Batu Bolong, Kanawa Island, and maybe Siaba Besar. There are obviously so many island you could talk about depending on if you are sailing the North, South, or Central part of Komodo. For now we will just still to the center considering that is the main area that most of the tours go to. I think one of those place would have to be Long Beach. This beach is absolutely gorgeous and it looks just like Pink Beach but most people go to Pink Beach. If you go to Long beach you are usually guaranteed to get much less tourist and you may even have the place to yourself to sit back relax and soak of some sun. It is also a great place to see some snorkeling right off of the beach. The sand even has a bit of a pink hue to it as well, just like Pink Beach Komodo. Gili Lawa is a great island to visit as well. It is also known as Gili Lawa Darat. This is one of my favorite places for hiking. There are a few trails that lead up to the top. Once you get up there is it absolutely breath taking. You can almost all of the north part of Komodo National Park. As well, viewing the blue bay down below is so great. You boat will look like a small toy because you are so high in the mountain. As well, you can get a good look at the different shades of blue. This makes for some great photo while you enjoy time at the top. Just like Padar or some other islands you will probably see many deer on the island as well. As Far as scuba diving Komodo, I would have to say Batu Bolong is by far my favorite spot to dive. This diving location is amazing. It is a big rock in central of Komodo and it also can have pretty strong currents, which is why you need to be an experienced scuba diving to dive here. Basically you just go back and forth on one side of this large rock and it is like a massive wall of a coral garden with every kind of fish you can imagine. Sometimes there are many dive boats there, but depending on the season as well and the time of day, you may be the only boat at Batu Bolong. I usually recommend going there earlier in the morning so you will not be in a rush to see it all because of other divers. Batu Bolong is probably the best scuba diving in Komodo National Park. I think it is acuatully known as one of the top 5 diving locations in the world. I also enjoy Kanawa Island. This is great place to stop on the way back to Labuan Bajo Harbour. It is a great place to relax and reflect on all the great places you just visited. The beach there is basically perfect and the snorkelling is so good right of the beach. There is even a small resort and restaurant there, so if can be a great experience to eat right on the beach and feel like you are living in Paradise. If you are lucky you can even see starfish in the shallow water. This is how you know there is not many tourists that visit an island because you can still see some great coral right off of the beach. I also just enjoy staying overnights in the Park. When you can be on a Liveaboard in Komodo, you get to experience sunrises and sunsets and just the nice soothing waves can help anyone sleep so good. Living on the ocean is something I always love. Interviewer: Ok thank you for all that information. I did not know some of that. Most people just take about the Komodo Dragons or seeing the Manta Rays at Manta Point, but you give our viewer some different prospectives on place to visit. Thank you and good luck with your future tours and guiding with different Komodo Tour Agencies. I know you love it. Well, in summary, I enjoy working on a Komodo liveaboard more than doing day trips for a few reasons. Firstly, being on a liveaboard allows me to fully immerse myself in the diving experience. We have more time to explore the incredible dive sites of Komodo and really appreciate the stunning beauty and diverse marine life. We also get the chance to visit remote locations that may not be accessible during a day trip. Living on a liveaboard is also much more convenient and comfortable. We have everything we need right on the boat, so we can focus solely on diving without having to worry about returning to shore after each dive. It's like having a floating home away from home. Plus, the social aspect is great too. We get to spend more time with other divers on board, creating a sense of camaraderie and making the whole experience more enjoyable. Another advantage is the flexibility that liveaboards offer. We can plan our dives according to the weather conditions, tides, and the preferences of the divers on board. This flexibility ensures that we have the best possible diving encounters and optimal visibility. In summary, working on a Komodo liveaboard is my preferred choice because it allows for an immersive diving experience, offers convenience and comfort, fosters a sense of community, and provides flexibility in planning dives. It truly enhances the overall enjoyment and satisfaction of diving in the Komodo region.
