Green sea Turtle (Chelonia mynas) in Komodo National Park
There are seven species of Sea Turtles in the world, but only four of them can be found in the waters around Komodo. The most common species of turtle found in the waters around Komodo is the green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas). These turtles can be found on many of the dive sites around the island, and are known to be quite approachable and easy to spot. They are herbivores and can often be found grazing on seagrass or other vegetation. They are also known to visit cleaning stations, where smaller fish will clean parasites and algae off their shells. These turtles can grow to over 1 meter in length and can weigh over 200 kg. They are also considered as an endangered species by the IUCN.

Another species of turtle that can be found in the Komodo is the hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata). Hawksbill turtles are smaller than green sea turtles, and they are also more elusive. They are typically found in deeper waters and are known to be more shy than other turtle species. They are known for their striking shell patterns, which are often used for jewelry and other decorative items. They feed mainly on sponges, so the adults are often found living among healthy coral reef communities. Divers can spot them mainly in Crystal bay, Tatawa Besar, Siaba Besar, and Batu Bolong.

The third species that can be found in the Komodo is the leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea). They are much more rare to see than the two mentioned above. These turtles are the largest of the sea turtles and can grow to over 2 meters in length and weigh over 900 kg. They are also the most migratory of the sea turtles and are known to travel vast distances across the ocean. They are typically found in deeper waters and can be seen on night dives. They differ from other marine turtles in that they have a thick leathery carapace instead of a hard bony shell, and also they can survive in colder water. Their jaws are too weak to eat hard bodied prey, so they mostly eat jellyfish and salps. Divers can spot them mainly in Torpedo Point, Manta Point, Siaba Besar, and Batu Tiga.

The fourth species that can be found in the Komodo is the loggerhead turtle (Caretta ceretta). These turtles are known for their large heads and strong jaws which allows them to eat prey with hard shells, like big marine snails. They have the widest spread distribution of all the sea turtles, and they can be seen in many dive sites around the Komodo.
