Kelor Island (Pulau Kelor) ![]() Kelor Island (Pulau Kelor) in Komodo National Park is a stunning Island that offers white sand beaches and hiking with amazing panoramic views. There are actually two Kelor Islands in Indonesia. One of them is located in the Thousand Islands Province and the second one in located in Komodo National Park and belongs to the Manggarai Regency in East Nusa National Park. Kelor Island (Labuan Bajo) is quite famous for it’s breathtaking natural scenery and tranquility. It is the perfect spot to lounge on the beach, swim, snorkel, or do some light trekking to the top to get a great views of the turquoise waters and surrounding area. There are also a few local vendors where you can purchase local crafts as well as have a relaxing and refreshing fresh coconut drink
Kelor is usually our first stop on many of our Komodo Boat Tours and it gives a first glimpse of the natural beauty of what our guests can expect in the next coming days on their boat trip while sailing around Komodo National Park. It is a relatively small island so it is easy to get around and see it all while you are there visiting. You can take your time to relax on the white sandy beaches, go snorkelling, or enjoy a short trek to the top of the island. The trek to the top only takes about 15 minutes and offers a breathtaking panoramic view. Don’t forget your swimming gear, camera, and a bottle of water, because you will want to enjoy your trip to this island as much as you can, while you are there.
Location.
Kelor Island is located west of the main island of Flores, northeast of Pulau Kukusan, and north of Pulau Muntia. For many boat trips from Labuan Bajo, Kelor is the first stop or last stop considering it is relatively close to Labuan Bajo. It is about 45 mins to 1 hour from the main harbor. Although when you visit Kelor, you may see locals there swimming or selling some crafts, but they do not live there. The island does not have any facilities, because the island is considered uninhabited. These gives the island a true natural feel considering it is a great place to start your Komodo Island hoping.
