Top 10 Komodo Scuba DivinG LOCATIONS

Picture
The Komodo National Park is known for its beautiful coral reefs and diverse marine life, making it a top destination, in the world, for scuba diving. There are many locations to choose from, but here are quite possibly the top 10 scuba diving locations in the Komodo National Park:

  • Manta Point: This site is known for its population of manta rays, which can be seen year-round.  It is more likely to see them during the height of the rainy season (Dec-Feb), but they can be seen all year long.
  • Castle Rock: This dive site is named for the large rock formations that rise up from the seabed and is home to a variety of marine life, including schools of fish, turtles, and white-tip reef sharks.  Castle Rock is located in the North part of Komodo National Park.
  • Batu Bolong: This site is known for its strong currents and its unique rock formations, which provide shelter for a variety of marine life, including schools of fish, sharks, and rays.   Many scuba divers describe this location as an underwater aquarium that changes on every dive.
  • Tatawa Besar: This site is known for its beautiful coral reefs and the chance to see larger marine life, including manta rays and schools of tuna.  It is usually a slow drift dive that can be relaxing and full of beautiful things to see all at the same time.
  • Siaba Kecil: This site is known for its colorful coral reefs and the chance to see a variety of marine life, including schools of fish, turtles, and sharks.  The dive site is located across from Siaba Besar and can also have very strong current, depending on the tides.
  • The Cauldron: This site is known for its strong currents and the chance to see a variety of marine life, including schools of fish, sharks, and rays.
  • Crystal Rock: This site is known for its beautiful coral reefs and the chance to see a variety of marine life, including schools of fish, turtles, and sharks.   This dive site is located in the North Part of Komodo National Park.
  • Shotgun: This site is known for its strong currents and the chance to see a variety of marine life, including schools of fish, turtles, and sharks.   This location can have some of the strongest currents of any dive site in the Park.  This is why it is called “shotgun.”  The current rushed over the top and creates a strong force of current in the water.  For the experienced divers that are looking for an adventure, this may be your favorite spot.
  • Yellow Wall: This site is known for its beautiful coral reefs and the chance to see a variety of marine life, including schools of fish, turtles, and sharks.
  • Pantai Merah: This site is known for its beautiful coral reefs and the chance to see a variety of marine life, including schools of fish, turtles, and sharks.
