Siaba Besar Island Siaba Besar, also known as Pulau Saiba is one of the favorites on Komodo Natational Park. Snorkeling and Scuba Diving are popular activities on the island, which is also known as Turtle City. Siaba Besar is location right across from Siaba Kecil. This dive location features a very large coral garden full of different aquatic wildlife and coral. Just from spending a short time in the water, you can ussually see: giant turtles, reef sharks, giant sweetlips, spotted stingrays, ghost pipefish, dugongs, and cuttlefish. The main reason this island is great for scuba diving and snorkelling is because you can see so many things even in the shallow area and the water is crystal clear. There is also a sandy beach area under water, which also makes it a great place for Dive Instructors to do training here. From the surface above the water, you can see a large bay with green mountains in the backgound. Typically the land is more green during rainy season, which is between November and March. If you come at a later time of year, the mountains will be a bit more brown coloured. If you spend a little time in the water, you may even see up to 10 large turtles or possibly up to 5 reef sharks. It is a great location to bring your underwater camera for sure to capture the beauty of the underwater world.
Siaba Besar location
This island is located east of Siaba Kecil also known as Pulau Pararambah. To the further left is Manta Point. To the each is Pulau Mangiatan. For anyone wanting to visit Siaba Besar, we can add this location to any of our boat trips or liveaboard trips. There are no hiking or trekking trails that are easily accessible, but the island is fantastic for diving and snorkelling. We also use this area for any diving courses for certification as it has different depths for practice and a sandy bottom on some areas so we can not damage any coral while doing training. Other locations we can add to this island are Padar Island, Manta Point, Siaba Kecil, Taka Makassar, Komodo Island, Rinca Island, Kanawa, Gili Lawa, Kalong, and many others.
