Tado Village SpiderWeb Rice Field. 
Tado Village is a very unique place to experience the local manggarai culture. You can stay one of the Traditional Homes, hike to the top of the mountain to view the Spiderweb Rice Field from above, or hike to the centre of the SpiderWeb Rice Field. Tado Village is located about 1hr to 1 hour 30 mins from Labuan Bajo by car or scooter, and is nestled in a beautiful valley very close right next to the popular Spider Web Rice fields on the Island of Flores. There are 12 different small villages and you can take time to experience some of the locals way of life that see how they perform a real Caci Dance, make sarongs (Ikat), make crafts, or make mats.
When coming to Tado Village, there are two main highlights you don’t miss. That is seeing the Spider Web Rice Field from above and seeing a a real Caci Dance. The Caci Dance, is an extremely unique dance with two fighters and musicians and signifies many aspects of the local culture. There are many reasons for the clothing whip, and shield used in the dance. After hiking or seeing the Caci Dance you can spend time with the locals and enjoy a truly unique cultural experience that guests always enjoy.
There are a few different options for tours and homestays you can take or stay overnight in. Guests to Tado can stay in peace and quite in a traditional hut by in privacy in the middle of the rice field or you can stay in one of many local homes with locals in the Village which is only a few minutes from the SpiderWeb Rice Field. There is also a trekking tour up the mountain for about 1 hour to the top to get an incredible view of the spiderweb rice field (local name, LIngko) down below. This makes for an incredible picture as well as a great sunrise if you leave early in the morning. There are many cultures traditions that centre around The Spider Rice Field and it is an example of how the village equally divides up the farming area from the past. so each family gets one area to farm rice to help support their family. We also offer tours to the local village there you can visit local artisans in the Village and watch how they make traditional sarongs, mats, or make coffee. As mentioned above one of the highlights of the tour is, to see a real Caci dance, which is the local traditional dance
Visiting Tado Village is one of our most popular tours and can be added on with locations such as; Cuci Wulang, Cuci Rami, Lake Sanagong, Wae Rebo Traditional Village, or on a full overland Tour. Cuci Wulang and Cuci Rami are have beautiful waterfalls and both offer a great place to swim in a natural setting. If you are interested in getting an even more traditional and local experience, we highly recommend adding a trip to Wae Rebo traditional Village to your Tado Village trip. Visiting Wae Rebo Traditional Village is a great experience of hiking about 3 hours in into a small village located deep in the mountains. Another good location is Lake Sanagong, which is also a beautiful volcanic lake to see, that is about 45 mins drive from Tado village and offers extremely peaceful views of the lake with a wide range of bird watching in the area.
