Komodo is home to some of the most diverse and beautiful marine life on the planet. The National Park has over 1,000 species of fish, 260 species of coral, and countless other marine organisms, and offers an unforgettable underwater experience for divers of all levels.
However, Komodo Tours and Scuba diving in Komodo has become much more popular and its popularity comes a responsibility to protect this fragile ecosystem. This is where scuba diving etiquette comes in. At Maika Komodo Tour & Diving, we try to teach proper diving and snorkeling etiquette. Divers and snorkelers can help preserve the unique beauty of Komodo National Park in many ways, including; respecting marine life, avoiding contact with the environment, and avoiding damage to coral and other underwater features. In addition, following specific guidelines for diving in the park, such as avoiding contact with the park's famous Komodo dragons and following designated dive sites, helps protect the marine environment and ensures the safety of divers. To practice responsible scuba diving in Komodo National Park, it is important to understand and follow basic scuba diving etiquette. This includes respecting marine life, avoiding damage to the environment, and being considerate of other divers and boat crew.
First and foremost, it is important to respect the marine life in Komodo National Park. This means avoiding contact with marine animals and never touching or taking anything from the environment. The marine life in Komodo National Park is delicate and vulnerable, and it is our responsibility as divers to ensure that we do not cause any harm. This means, do not touch the sea turtle, do not touch the manta, do not touch the coral. Basically do not touch anything. In addition, it is important to avoid causing damage to coral and other underwater features. This means avoiding contact with the seabed, and not using gloves or other equipment that may damage the environment. Even seemingly small actions, such as kicking up sediment, can cause long-lasting damage to the environment. This is another reason to get your advanced diving certification in Komodo so you can be a much better diver and have better control over your diving.
