Komodo scuba Tour guide Interview #3
Interviewer: We are here today with Martin, an experienced dive guide working in Komodo National Park. Martin, thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us. We appreciate it very much.

Martin: It's my pleasure to be here with you. I enjoy talking about scuba diving in Komodo National Park.

Interviewer: Could you tell us a bit about your experience as a dive guide in Komodo National Park?

Martin: Absolutely. I've been a dive guide in Komodo National Park for over five years, and it has been an amazing experience since the beginning.  I've been able to explore some of the most beautiful coral reefs, underwater landscapes, and incredible sea life in the world. I've seen some beautiful marine life, from turtles and manta rays to sharks and octopus. I've also had some amazing dives with manta rays and sea turtles. Diving with Manta never gets old.  They seem to put on a different show every single time I get to see them. The visibility in Komodo can be quite remarkable, as well, and it’s a great spot for underwater photography. I have also had the chance to explore some of the more remote sites in the park, which can be quite an adventure.  As well, if you like currents, this area is well known for its strong currents as well.

Interviewer: That sounds incredible. Sound like you love what you do. So can you talk a bit more about what makes diving in Komodo National Park so special?

Martin: Well, Komodo National Park is home to some of the most diverse and vibrant coral reefs in the world. It is also home to a variety of wildlife and marine life, including endangered species, like the Komodo Dragon. I think most people know this considering that is where the name comes from , but many people do not know how small the population actually is.  This is what Komodo Tour packages are so popular because you get to see a mix of so many things.  You can also see a variety of beautiful corals and colorful fish, which is always an amazing experience. There are also a variety of dive sites to explore, from shallow reefs to deep walls, so with no current and others that can have very strong current.  As well, the park has great visibility most al of the time, warm temperatures, and abundant marine life, which makes it a great choice for divers of all levels.

Interviewer: What would you recommend to someone planning a dive trip to Komodo National Park?

Martin: There are so many great companies here but recently I have been working with a company I really enjoy, which is why I would highly recommend Maika Komodo Tours and Diving. As a dive operator, they provide both komodo scuba diving trips, komodo boat trips, and land excursions in in Flores. They have an experienced and knowledgeable team of staff, who are passionate about the underwater world and committed to providing the best possible experience for their guests. Plus, they offer combination diving in different option for there Personalised Komodo Tour Packages. You can do snorkeling and night dives on the same trip, as well as underwater photography because they usually provide go pros to their guests. They can usually personalise your trip so you can choose the one that best suits your interests and skill level. The crew is also very friendly and accommodating, and they always go above and beyond to make sure their guests have a great experience. They also provide excellent safety equipment and have a great safety record, so you can dive with confidence

Interviewer: What other tips would you give to someone planning a dive trip to Komodo National Park?

Martin: I would suggest doing some research ahead of time so that you know what to expect. You should also make sure you bring the right equipment, and if you don't have your own, Maika Komodo Tours and Diving can provide it for you. Finally, I would suggest getting a dive guide who is familiar with the dive sites in the park and can show you the best spots, which is also provided by the dive company. This will ensure you have a safe and enjoyable dive experience.

Interviewer: What would you say is the most rewarding part of being a dive guide in Komodo National Park?

Martin: The most rewarding part of being a dive guide in Komodo National Park is being able to share the beauty of the underwater world with others. I is a passion of mine and seeing the joy and amazement on people’s faces when they see  a manta ray for the first time is a truly special experience. I also love being able to show people a side of nature that they may not have known existed, and introducing them to a world of wonder and discovery.  It also give me the opportunity to talk about ocean conservation, which i enjoy talking about.  I think so many people just throw plastic or trash in the ocean and don’t even think twice about it.  I hope to educate while we enjoy the dives as well, and I think my guests appreciate that.

Interviewer: Well Martin, thank you so much for speaking with us.  One last question. What is your favourite dive spot in Komodo?

Martin:  We that is a very tough question. There are so many places that offer so many different kinds of dives. Such as Batu Bolong, Crystal Rock, Castle Rock, Siaba Besar and many more.  I think my favorite thing to do is always scuba diving with Manta Rays.  It never seems to get old. They are so graceful and to see them each time seems like it is the first time, every time.
