Komodo Island Day Tour Hi my name is Becca and I am from Australia and I did a Komodo Island Day Tour and had such an amazing experience that Tis asked me to write for her blog and of course I said yes. So I will write about my experience with Maika Komodo Tour. First of all I messaged Maika Komodo Tour about two months ago asking for what Komodo tours that they offered considering I only had a very short time in Labuan Bajo. She was very responsive on every message when I connected with her on WhatsApp and she answered all of our questions very promptly and was very helpful. She recommended we take a Komodo Island Day Tour considering we only had a short time. We start our day at about 6:30am and were picked up at our hotel and had a Private Komodo Day trip. Overall, I can say it was absolutely amazing. We visited Komodo Island, Pink Beach, Manta Point, Taka Makassar, Padar Island, and Kanawa. It is difficult to say which place was the best but I would say it was a tie between Padar Island, Komodo, and Manta Point. We made it to Padar and hiked up to the top and took some absolutely amazing photos. The hike to the top took about 45 minutes and the walkway was pretty easy. I was out of breath a few times, but overall it was not that bad. It was absolutely worth the time it took to make it to the top. There are four beautiful beach bays you can see from the top and it is absolutely breathtaking. Our guide said we were very lucky because there were not many people there at the time that he choose to come there. So that was a plus for having an experienced guide. We took so many photos. We also went to Komodo Island and actually saw 7 Komodo dragons. Five of them were close to the beach and the other two were at a watering hole on the trail that we hiked on. We also saw a very small one on the beach. It was quite surreal to see an ancient creature right in front of our eyes. Such a unique experience. It was just incredible. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions we had. He used a big stick to keep the Komodo Dragon away from us at all times. We felt very safe and gave the guide a good tip for taking care of us. My third favourite spot was Manta Point. Our guide helped us to do snorkeling with the current and took care of us. We saw four Manta Rays and got to swim around two of them. For me, I think this was a once in a lifetime experience. I will never forget it. It was like the Manta Rays just danced around us and were going up, down, and around us like they were entertaining us. My boyfriend was kind of freaking out because he couldn’t believe how close the Manta Rays would swim next to us. He was so glad he rented a go pro because he got some amazing photos and videos. Pink Beach was also a very nice surprise. The sand was actually pink and the snorkeling was very cool. There are a bit of a current so we could swim along with it. The visibility was very clear and we saw so many small fish. I do not know their names of different kinds but they were all so colourful and swim all around us. We saw some very nice beautiful and colourful coral as well. Taka Makassar and Kanawa were also very nice. Beautiful beaches and great to relax on. It was like being in the heaven of beaches and I already want to go back. Such a unique experience. Overall we had the perfect Komodo Day trip. I would not have changed anything. Our guide was great and very knowledgeable and Tis continued to help us with everything we needed. I would highly recommend Maika Komodo tour for anyone taking a Komodo Boat trip. Highly Recommend. Thank you for Tis and the entire crew that helped us have a vacation of a lifetime!
