What is so unique about visiting Komodo National Park? Komodo National Park is starting to get more popular are search engines and conversations had from back packers all the way to luxury travellers. This is because Komodo is becoming a much for visited destination and people are realising how unique it is to visit. So why is Komodo Unique? We first of all, the National park is the only place in the entire world where you can see Komodo Dragons in their natural habit. They were first documented in 1910 by Europeans. Also known as the Komodo monitor, they are members of the monitor lizard family and can be found on Komodo and Rinca Islands. They can grow to a maximum of 3 meters (10ft) in length and weigh up to almost 70 kilograms. They have long tails that are as long as the body. As well they have about 60 serrated teeth that can measure up to 1in in length. They are also covered in Scales. Seeing a Komodo dragon in the wild is a unique experience to anyone and can be extremely exciting. They hunt prey by ambushing them and have a venomous bite as well. When visiting the islands, it is advised to always follow the guide and do as instructed. Their have been a few tourists who have been bitten by the Komodo Dragons in the past. A few other things that make Komodo National Park unique is a Beach called Pink Beach, a beautiful large island in the center called Padar Island, Amazing snorkelling and scuba diving, and many other beautiful island to see. Probably another of the most popular locations to visit is called Padar Island. This island is located in the center of the national Park. When you do Komodo Island Tour, Padar is usually also included as well. You can get there by doing a Komodo Day trip or a 2 day Komodo Trip. Many boat get their early and do a sunrise hike to the top to get a beautiful sunrise view early in the morning. The view from the top is spectacular and you can see four different beach bays. There is a trail and steps going got the top of the island. If you take a 3 day Komodo Trip you may even go to some other locations in the north or south. Eitherway, you will probably go to Pink Beach. Pink beach is names for its color. The sand has small bits of coral that are reddish pink and in the current light, the beach an appear to be pink. This is another great thing about Komodo National Park.
